Call For Contestants

12th Annual Utah State Instrument Championships

Saturday and Sunday, July 10-11, 2010

In Conjunction with the annual IAMA/Snowbird Resort Folk and Bluegrass Festival the 12th annual Utah State Instrument Championships will be held on Saturday and Sunday, July 10th and 11th, 2010. There are ten contests, with five “Open” divisions and five “Novice” divisions, featuring Flatpick Guitar, Fingerstyle Guitar, Bluegrass Fiddle, Banjo, and Mandolin. This year the contests will move from the parking lot stage to the main stage at Snowbird and will begin promptly at 8:00AM each day. Contest details, including division order and start times will be announced at a later time.

We are pleased to announce early sponsorship commitments from Walnut Valley Festival Winfield, Kansas, which also lends its national sanctioning to the event, The Acoustic Musician, Founders Title Company, NAY Leather Straps, Oliphant Fiddles and Bows, Utah Friends of Bluegrass, and the Intermountain Acoustic Music Association, with whom USIC is again partnering (see other article this issue). Other sponsorships are already in the works and will be announced at a later time. The combined total of contestants for each instrument contest will be limited to the first 20 paid contestants. The Novice category has no age restriction, however this is intended for beginners to intermediate players with only a few years experience. Likewise the Open Category is open to all ages. These contests are registered with the State of Utah and are sanctioned by the Walnut Valley Association, Winfield Kansas, which hosts the National Championships in Bluegrass 

To enter please submit a non-refundable entry fee of $15.00 for the Open Division and $10.00 for the Novice Division contests. (make check or money order payable to: IAMA) via US Mail, postmarked no later than July 3, 2010.
